De Lucy House care home in Diss was named ‘Care Home of the Year’ at the 2023 Greensleeves Care Awards, with manager Lauren also winning ‘Home Manager of the Year.’
The awards were presented by Greensleeves Care, the not-for-profit organisation that runs De Lucy House, at its annual awards ceremony in London, attended by representatives from all 28 of the organisation’s care homes which span the length and breadth of England.
The awards are issued based on heartfelt nominations from colleagues, residents and their families. De Lucy House’s ‘Home of the Year’ award nomination came from an anonymous family member of a resident, who praised ‘each and every member of staff’ from the domestic team, to laundry, to management and maintenance.
The nomination said:
“In March this year our dad’s life was turned upside down from a bad fall, but from the first time I contacted the home the care compassion and dedication from staff was and still is outstanding.
It took 4 months for Dad to settle and regain his happy self again and believe me he had some dark days. But with all the care and support from staff, we have our dad back again. We cannot put into words how lucky we are.”
De Lucy House’s Manager, Lauren Tubby, was nominated by an anonymous member of staff at the home, who stated:
“This person is one of the most kind, caring and compassionate people I know. She is dedicated to her role as Home Manager and is an inspiration to all that work with her. She is always willing to help out within the home from covering on the care floor to helping out with activities
Thanks to her, the home currently holds a CQC rating of ‘Good’ and she strives to achieve Outstanding on the next visit.”
The awards also recognise multiple other categories such as best resident experience, best provision of dementia care, and care professional of the year, the latter of which De Lucy House also had a nominee, Care Assistant, Amanda Frost.
Home Manager, Lauren Tubby, said of the double award-win:
“I was so thrilled not only to be named Home Manager of the Year, but for the whole team to be awarded ‘Care Home of the Year.’ Working with such an amazing team, day in, day out, is integral to my success as a home manager, and I am proud to lead such an inspirational team of professionals.”
“Everyone at De Lucy House works so hard to provide the best possible experience for our residents. Whilst they don’t do it for the recognition, it’s fantastic to see them being celebrated in this way.”
