Broadlands Care Home in Oulton Broad, Lowestoft, has been crowned winner of the Best Outdoor Environment Award at the Caring UK Awards. This recognition highlights the home’s innovative approach to outdoor spaces and its commitment to enhancing residents’ quality of life through nature and engagement.
Situated in the picturesque surroundings of the Suffolk Broads and featuring expansive gardens and stunning views, the Outstanding-rated Broadlands Care Home boasts an exceptional space which the team maximises to provide stimulation, relaxation, and joy for residents. The unique outdoor environment is also the backdrop of many community events and fundraisers the not-for-profit home runs every year.
Central to receiving the award was the home’s ‘Seed to Fork’ programme, which involves residents actively in every step of cultivating fresh produce – from planning seasonal crops with the gardening and catering teams to planting, growing, and harvesting.
The home was also nominated in the Care Team of the Year category. Speaking about the award, Anne Maas, Home Manager at Broadlands Care Home, said:
